Wireless Networking

Setting up a wireless network may seem easy according to the box of a router but it is usually not the case. In order for your personal information to be secure over wireless, encryption needs to be configured. That way the people you want to have access can and others cannot. Think about all of the information (banking, tax records, and personal photos) you may have on your system. Would you want that information posted on the nightly news? That is pretty much what you are doing when your network is not locked down with encryption.

Some of the benefits of having a wireless network include:

  • Wireless Internet access around the house.
  • Not being chained by the network cord to the modem/router.
  • Share documents and photos with other computers on the network.
  • Share a printer with other computers on the network.
